On October 15, 2021, VFW Post 2152, Waltham, presented a $500 check to Ms. Erin Murphy, Development Manager - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Society, on behalf of the American Cancer Society.  Murphy is the lead for community development activities for the Boston Area, which includes the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Boston Walk.  The walk alone generates over $1.5 million annually and is the third largest in the nation.  Jr. Vice Commander William W. Durkee, Jr. was so impressed with Murphy and her organization's mission that he initiated the donation recommendation.

 

The American Cancer Society's mission is to free the world of cancer.  They fund research, provide support and promote prevention as a non-profit.  Post 2152 members unanimously voted in favor of the donation on September 25, 2021.  Although Post 2152 meets virtually due to the effects of COVID 19, we find ways to continue to impact the community in positive ways.  As our motto says, "No one does more for Veterans."
